Gregory Sanders is the founder and senior pastor of The ROCK Christian Fellowship in Long Beach, California, and member of WYSM’s Advisory Board. As an active community advocate for over twenty years, he has strived to balance ties between pastors, police, and the public. In 2012, the pastor was fortunate to meet WYSM Executive Director, Jason Lehman, at LBPD Commander Joseph Levy’s retirement party. Shortly after meeting, Pastor Sanders attended a WYSM presentation and was moved by the power of the message. The two then collaborated to expand the program’s content relating to racial profiling in policing. As a citizen of Long Beach for over forty years, Pastor Sanders is passionate about serving his community. In addition to his role as senior pastor at The ROCK, he serves as president of the Long Beach Ministers Alliance, an association of thirty-five of the civic-centered churches and para-churches, representing 30,000 faithful parishioners. He created \”A Mile of Men\” community violence response program as a means
for community members to effectively voice opinions during times of community distress. Pastor Sanders also serves as Senior Alliance Clergy council to the LBPD, on the advisory panel for the
Long Beach Violence Prevention Plan, as a community advisory participant for the California Peace Officer Standards and Training, and as an active civilian participant in the Long Beach Police Academy interviewing process. In 2014, Pastor Sanders was bestowed with the privilege of delivering the invocation for the Long
Beach Police Academy graduates.Executive Director, Jason Lehman, considers Pastor Sanders a mentor and one of the most influential people in his life.
